This research, with an interdisciplinary approach and using historical sources, archaeological evidence, and modern research in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), analyzes the multifaceted role of the Royal Road in the expansion of trade, facilitation of political communications, movement of military forces, and cohesion of the Achaemenid Empire. The research findings show that the Royal Road was not just a simple communication route, but an engineered corridor designed to meet the extensive operational needs of the Achaemenid court. This road, with a length of approximately 2,500 kilometers, connected Susa to Sardis and, with 111 road stations, allowed royal messengers to travel in just nine days. The present study shows that the Royal Road, as the “vital artery” of the Achaemenid Empire, played an unparalleled role in creating and maintaining the integrity of this vast empire. جاده شاهی هخامنشی (Royal Road) یکی از برجسته ترین دستاوردهای مهندسی و مدیریتی دوران باستان به شمار می رود که در سده پنجم پیش از میلاد به فرمان داریوش بزرگ ساماندهی و بازسازی شد. این پژوهش با رویکردی میان رشته ای و با بهره گیری از منابع تاریخی، شواهد باستان شناختی و پژوهش های نوین در حوزه سیستم های اطلاعات جغرافیایی (GIS)، به تحلیل نقش چند وجهی جاده شاهی در گسترش تجارت، تسهیل ارتباطات سیاسی، جابجایی نیروهای نظامی و انسجام شاهنشاهی هخامنشی می پردازد. یافته های پژوهش نشان می دهد که جاده شاهی صرفاً یک مسیر ارتباطی ساده نبود، بلکه یک کریدور مهندسی شده بود که برای پاسخگویی به نیازهای عملیاتی گسترده دربار هخامنشی طراحی شده بود. این جاده با طول تقریبی ۲۵۰۰ کیلومتر، شوش را به ساردیس متصل می کرد و با دارا بودن ۱۱۱ ایستگاه راهداری، امکان سفر پیام رسان های سلطنتی را در مدت تنها نه روز فراهم می آورد. پژوهش حاضر نشان می دهد که جاده شاهی به عنوان «شاهرگ حیاتی» شاهنشاهی هخامنشی، نقشی بی بدیل در ایجاد و حفظ یکپارچگی این امپراتوری پهناور ایفا کرده است. https://ijmile.ir/downloadfilepdf/24462
